General Information

Hexagon anti-slip plywood is a film faced plywood panel featuring an embossed hexagonal surface pattern designed to provide additional grip. Its textured film overlay creates a patterned contact surface, making it suitable for flooring and applications where surface traction is an important consideration.

Materials and Panel Construction

Hexagon Pattern Film Surface

The working face features an embossed hexagonal pattern that creates a textured surface for improved grip compared with conventional smooth film faced plywood.

The resin-impregnated film overlay also helps limit moisture penetration through the panel face. Film type, weight, embossing quality and bonding to the substrate are important specification factors.

Actual slip resistance depends on surface condition, moisture, contamination and operating conditions. Any required slip-resistance rating should be verified through the applicable testing method.

Core Veneers

The panel consists of multiple veneer layers arranged with alternating grain directions and bonded under pressure. Core species, veneer quality and lay-up influence panel density, stiffness and machining performance.

Consistent core construction is particularly important around panel edges, fixing points and areas exposed to concentrated loads or repeated traffic.

Adhesive Bonding

The adhesive system holds the veneer layers together during use. Bonding requirements should reflect the expected moisture exposure, loading conditions and service environment.

Adhesive type, bond performance and formaldehyde emissions are separate specification items and should be assessed against the applicable requirements.

Edge Protection

Panel edges and newly cut openings are potential entry points for moisture. Edge sealing helps reduce water uptake through these exposed areas.

Cut edges and drilled holes should be resealed before installation to help maintain panel performance. The film overlay does not make the entire panel permanently waterproof.

Hexagonal Anti-Slip Surface

The embossed hexagonal pattern provides a textured contact surface designed to improve grip underfoot. Its raised pattern distinguishes it from smooth and rice-pattern film faced plywood.

Keeping the surface clean and free from oil, mud and accumulated debris helps maintain its intended surface characteristics.

Thickness should be selected according to the application, support spacing, load distribution, fixing arrangements and permitted deflection.

For vehicle flooring, industrial platforms and access walkways, concentrated loads and traffic conditions should also be considered. Thickness alone does not establish a panel's load-bearing capacity.

Surface Durability and Service Life

Service life depends on film specification, embossing quality, abrasion, impact, moisture exposure and maintenance.

Panels should be inspected regularly for surface wear, damaged edges and delamination. The condition of the embossed pattern should also be considered when evaluating continued suitability for anti-slip applications.
